Slowing Down

Week 25 with Baby Yanez. Here’s what I’m learning:

I’m learning how to slow down.

If you know me, you know that I’m a DOer. I resonate with the Home Depot commercials about the “doers that get more done”.

Today is my last day with Wild Health, the Genomics-based telehealth company I have been working with for the past year and a half. I shared last week about my decision to step back after identifying what my current priorities are (my family). For the past 2 years, I have worked full time for this company, and still coached some clients via my business outside of that.

Since I made this decision with my supervisor 3 weeks ago, the past couple of weeks have been on the slower side, getting patients ready to be transferred, and getting myself used to being primary caretaker for Squish.

This involves slowing down, and literally doing less of some things (like sitting at my laptop), and being more present with our baby. This has been quite the change for me, who prides herself for being busy all the time (hello, childhood trauma, nice to see you again :P).

What does this have to do with you?

Have you ever just scheduled time into your day to be … not busy?

I’m not talking bingeing a show or scrolling on social media.

I’m literally talking about time in your day to just exist without an agenda.

If you had the time to just be, would you take it, or would you worry about what you “should” be doing in that time?

So what can you do about it?

Last week, we talked about identifying your priorities. Now that you have them sorted, and you’ve identified the things you could let go of, we can play with letting them go, yea?
