The Art of Picking Up Where You Left Off

Week 15 with Baby Yanez. Here’s what I’m learning:

The art of picking up where you left off.

Before having a baby, I was the queen of getting ready and out the door in 15 min. This past week, I was watching Shay in our Airbnb and it legit took us 45 min to get ready and get out the door.

From a planning perspective, this was important for me, but not unheard of. I am a planner, so it doesn’t bother me to plan ahead.

AND the fact that everything takes longer makes it harder to get more done in the day. It means more things are left unfinished than not.

That has been a challenge for me; Having multiple things on a running list that I can’t finish in one sitting (like laundry, work, emails, and even workouts).

What does this have to do with you?

If you knew you weren’t going to be able to finish something, would you still start it at that moment?

Likely not, which could be the reason you aren’t making progress on whatever your goal is.

So what can you do about it?

Instead of waiting for the conditions to be “right”, I invite you to start.

Learn the art of picking it up later, where you left off, with fresh eyes, ears, muscles, or heart.

It won’t ever be perfect. That’s why the saying goes, “The best time to plant a tree was yesterday, the next best time is today.”
