You Still Have to Show Up

Week 17 with Baby Yanez. Here’s what I’m learning:

You still have to show up.

Our whole house got sick at what seemed like the same time. Shay had a low-grade fever, and I lost my voice.

But as much as I wanted to curl up in a ball or sleep all day, I literally couldn’t. I know all the parents feel this one. I’m still responsible for this little human that can’t figure out why he feels terrible, and can’t tell us about it.

So I did what I knew would help me feel my best- I drank a ton of water, rested when I could, and made sure I got outside for fresh air every day.

What does this have to do with you?

Is there something you are not doing because the circumstances aren’t ideal?

There are of course times to rest, but there are also times to work with what you’ve got.

This reminds me of relying on motivation to achieve your goals. This is why we focus on developing discipline, rather than looking at ways to boost motivation.

So what can you do about it?

Where can you take action, or show up, even when you aren’t feeling your 100% best?

You won’t be motivated all the time to show up, but what can you do to make sure you still do?
